Description

Visite libre à l'aide de 24 panneaux en lave émaillée ponctuant ce parcours, répartis sur 2 400 ha. Partez à la découverte de Beaune-d'Allier, petite commune riche d'un patrimoine exceptionnel tant historique qu'architectural, géographique et humain.

A self-guided tour featuring 24 enamelled lava stone panels dotted along the route, spread across 2,400 hectares. Come and discover Beaune - d’Allier, a small town with an exceptional historical, architectural, geographical and human heritage.

The following highlights include :

- its Gallo-roman sites (roads and roman camp); its location on the crusades route (St John of Jérusalem, the commandery of Lavaufranche, the hospice and chapel..) and its strategic position (on the boundary between the Pays d’Oc and the Pays d’Oil..) ;

-The presence of three castles (Sainte-Foye, SalleBrune and Villard) ,

- The toll House, Saint - Aignan Church, its historic craft industry, most of all pottery.

A general information panel set in the church square helps visitors locate each panel and suggests a few walking routes, such as the castles, school and the « Tacot » railway. Information leaflets are available at the tourist offices in Montlucon, Néris-les-Bains and Montmarault.
